To make choosing easier for you, we’ll guide you through some of the most beautiful yet underrated destinations you’ll fall in love with. The first one is Privlaka, a little picturesque peninsula in Middle Dalmatia, near Zadar, known for its wonderful sand beaches and an amazing sunset.

Privlaka is more than a tourist destination with beautiful beaches – it could easily become your own oasis of peace. Keep on reading to find out everything Privlaka has to offer and what makes it an ideal location for a luxury seaside villa!

Choose a luxury seaside villa on a location with over 2540 sunny hours a year

Privlaka has a fantastic geographic position and an even better climate – the Mediterranean one, characterized by hot, warm summers and mild winters. There is the lovely mistral wind to abate the summer heat, and the famous piercing northeastern wind to invigorate you during the winter – bura.

Whether during summer or winter, Privlaka is often bathed in sun – it has over 2540 sunny hours in a year. Sunrays not only warm you up and lift your mood, but they also mean you get to enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets. The beach Punta in Privlaka is Dalmatia’s westernmost point, and you can assume what a spectacle it is watching a sunset from there!

Swim and have fun on numerous sand beaches in Privlaka

Privlaka is known for its numerous sand beaches and lagoons that will satisfy those seeking peace as well as those that prefer an active seaside holiday. Most beaches are suitable for a family vacation, for children and non-swimmers since water there is mostly shallow. The beach Mostina is a good example of such a beach with showers, eco toilets and changing rooms. On the southeastern part of Privlaka, in Skrapavac-Bilotinjak, you can find a small aqua park.

Adventurers will especially enjoy the beach Sabunike where they can windsurf or try out kiting! Sabunike is among the most famous surfing destinations on the Adriatic Coast.

Punta is a natural stone beach where you can enjoy a peaceful holiday surrounded by nature or play beach volleyball.

Pet owners will be interested in the fact that Privlaka has a dog beach where they can peacefully enjoy themselves with their pets!

Taste the fish delicacies and experiment in the kitchen

Privlaka is a well-known fishing place which means you can always find fresh fish there, and you should never pass on a Dalmatian sea delicacy. Whether it’s grilled, stewed or cooked fish, we believe your taste buds will be thankful!

Besides being able to experiment with food in the comfort of your villa, during the season there are numerous konobas (traditional inns or taverns) and restaurants you can visit. Various fish delicacies await you there, as well as other Adriatic specialties – Dalmatian prosciutto, the Pag cheese, as well as local olives and wine.

Take a walk, cycle, run, meditate – Privlaka is a recreational paradise

One of the advantages of owning a luxury villa directly by the sea is that you can enjoy a marvelous view from your own space, catered to your wishes. You can have an active start to your morning – set up a mat on the terrace and wake up your body the natural way – through exercise.

If you are a fan of jogging in nature, Privlaka’s seaside walkway is ideal for that type of activity! Besides activating your body, you will enjoy the fresh air, the scent of the sea and relax along the beautiful nature on every mile of your run.

Besides running or always-appealing walking, Privlaka caters to cycling lovers as well – there is a 21 kilometer (13 miles) long cycling trail.

The adrenaline lovers can try windsurfing or take a trip to Dugi otok or the river Zrmanja seeking the thrill of kayaking or rafting!

Explore Privlaka’s diverse surroundings and forget boredom

Even though Privlaka is a small place with a little over 2200 inhabitants, thanks to its surroundings there is always something to do or places to visit. Besides Zadar, the center of Zadar County, a city of rich cultural and historical heritage, very near to Privlaka is also the royal town of Nin, one of the most romantic European destinations and a true gem. Apart from its old town and the Gregory of Nin’s statue - whose thumb brings you luck if you touch it according to the local legend, Nin is also famous for its salt factory whose museum you can also visit.

A bit further away from Nin and Zadar, but still quite close to Privlaka, are four oases of natural beauty, four national parks. The Plitvice Lakes, the oldest and the biggest Croatian national park, Krka known for its magnificent waterfalls, Kornati where you can enjoy diving into the crystal-clear sea, and Paklenica that will thrill lovers of climbing and hiking.

For those who love boat excursions, there is also a park of nature Telascica on one of the most beautiful islands in the Zadar archipelago, Dugi Otok.

Relax and connect with yourself

Whether your primary goal is to relax and dedicate some time to yourself in your new villa on the Adriatic Coast, or you’re looking for some inspiration and peace needed to focus on your work, Privlaka is a place where you can do both.

During the summer season it is full of various events, while you can enjoy calm walks by the sea breathing in fresh air, meditation, sound of silence or getting to know local customs the rest of the year. After all the activities, get cozy in your new luxury villa and enjoy your own sea view!

Get to know legends and interesting stories from Privlaka’s history

Privlaka is mentioned in the first Croatian novel Planine by Petar Zoranic, who was especially fascinated by the famous Privlaka wells. Today, there are 12 left, and the most famous one is Sokolar.

Even though Privlaka is a small place, it’s filled with stories and buildings to visit, like the Parish Church of the Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary dating to the nineteenth century, one of the most beautiful examples of neoclassicist architecture in Dalmatia. There are also the remains of the Church of Saint Vitus, patron saint of pharmacists, dancers and actors, from the 14th century.

The most interesting stories and legends are, of course, told by the locals, especially the older generation.
